The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season to be above-average in intensity, with between 17 to 25 named cyclones, and predicted four to seven major hurricanes (Category 3 or higher).

- Create an Emergency Plan: Establish a family emergency plan that includes evacuation routes and communication strategies. Keep important documents in a waterproof container.
- Stock Up on Supplies. Ensure you have enough non-perishable food, water, and medication to last at least three days. Include a first-aid kit, flashlights, batteries, and a battery-powered radio.
- Secure Outdoor Items: Bring patio furniture, grills, and other outdoor items indoors to prevent them from becoming projectiles. Trim trees and bushes to minimize the risk of falling branches. Protect Windows and Doors, and Install storm shutters or use plywood to cover windows and glass doors.
- Check Your Roof and Gutters: Inspect your roof for loose shingles or tiles and repair them. Clear gutters and downspouts to prevent water damage.
- Install Surge Protectors: Use surge protectors to safeguard your electronic devices from power surges caused by lightning.
